Flipper, I think you should do a commercial for EHarmony. That would really show the world that you are living a good happy life!

Newly Exiting JW's ( Last 5 years ) How are you Doing in Life? Let Us Know
by flipper inconsidering the fact we've had so many newbies here i thought it would be good to just open it up to you folks to see how life is going for you since you exited the witnesses ?
it's hard many times to move on- however with lots of ex-witnesses on the board here who have been through similar experiences - perhaps those of us who have been out awhile can give you someideas on how to move on in your post jw life to make it a little easier .
so fire away newbies and recently exited jw 's.

Finally finding my way out...
by cognac inwell, its been about 2 1/2 years and have slowly done less and less.
i've been to about 30 minutes of a meeting in the last month and a half where i stayed out back and with my daughter.. i've been looking for the right timing to leave but had decided i will go anyways by the time my daughter is about 1 years old.
but, it just so happens that my some members of my family including and mostly my parents have actually given me a good enough of an excuse to get out.. they have broken to many rules.

Cognac, Glad to hear you're fading fast. And I'm especially happy for your baby. She will enjoy the Christmas tree in December and a visit from Santa Claus!

Are there any current JWs that go back and read this stuff? I mean, how can you take it seriously?

Wierdest Yearbook experience EVER 1967 A "talking snake" silenced by an African Witness!!!
by Witness 007 inyearbook 1967 p.105 "{chad -africa}.....a large crowd was follwing a man who had a talking serpent.
the serpent gave greetings and spoke in foriegn tongues...a brother was passing by and attracted by the commotion, he went to the house...as soon as he entered the room the serpent stopped talking.
the man cried out: "a magican has entered the room"...the brother said: "is that a serpent or a demon that is talking to you?...i know that since god created the animals not one sepent has spoken, with the exception of the one in the begining in the garden of eden...seeing that the serpent remained silent the man left the building...later he was anxious to get some literature....".

Highdose, You are absolutely correct. I am an RN. That story is even more asinine than the talking serpent in my opinion. How did my very intelligent father believe all this stuff? How did he rationalize it?

I think I vaguely remember this story also. No wonder I started having creeping doubts even as a 10-11 year old child!

I agree. Everything has been pointing in that direction for a long time.

St Ann, I was talking about the one authored by Friedman.
My hubby has never been a JW.
Thanks for the suggestions, everybody. I have ordered several of these.

Recently, someone on here(I can't remember who) suggested the book, "Who Wrote the Bible?". I ordered it from Amazon and my husband has read it and loved it. It dealt mostly with the Old Testament. And my husband was wondering if there is a similar book about the New Testament and how the whole Bible was put together and how it was decided what writings were included.
Any suggestions?

The Jehovahs Witness family weekend
by jambon1 inhaving been out of the organisation for over 4 years and having finally released my kids from the hellish existance that is life as a jw, it struck me today how enjoyable our weekends are in comparison to when we were jw's.. the weekends are vital for us just now.
my wife doesn't work but i work full time from very early in the morning.
i don't get to see my beutiful children in the morning during the week.

Great post. Your description sounds exactly like my JW childhood. Congratulations to you for getting you and your kids out!
